FRDBI changes

An upgrade to the system software has allowed the following changes.

Licensing of records and media

When logging on the FRDBI there is a reminder to set your Intellectual Property Rights licensing preferences. The licensing documentation page explains the options and their implications.

Species summary page

A new species summary page includes a hectad distribution map, a list of associated orgranisms, synonyms and common names and images. The hectad map can be adjusted to show different time periods of records. This page is on the Explore menu when you will need to enter a name which can be the abbreviated 2 digits of genus plus 3 digits of species name. There is also an icon linking to this page on the right hand side of each record entry on the Explore pages.

Email messages.

Emails can now be sent to the user's login address. Currently these will mainly be generated as a result of the NBN verification rules from the record cleaner. It is important to realise that these rules were generated from the 2016 version of CBIB and does need updating. At present when entering a record a small popup triangle by the name highlights any unusual records that might require further consideration and the new emails are just an extension of this system.

If you look on the detail page for any record there is a space for entering comments which will now be emailed to the user who entered the record.

Finally if we implement a verification system for records, which many other recording systems now include, an email will be generated by the verifier.

Each user will be able to adjust the frequency they recieve emails in their user account.

Filtering options extended.

In the Create a filter tab on the Explore pages there are several new options in the When, Who, Quality and Source sections. These allow new ways to sort the records.
